Mr Bouabid is currently CEO and Board Member of BOA Group S.A., the holding company of Bank of Africa Group. The Group is present in 18 countries in Africa and in France and has a consolidated total balance sheet of EUR 7,2 billion in 2015, employing 5,600 people.
Mr. Bouabid began his career as Finance analyist in Banque Commerciale du Maroc in 1992, and shortly thereafter joined the founders of Casablanca Finance Group (CFG) to participate in its startup and development. He actively took part in the creation of several business lines within the young investment bank (research, analysis, asset management, intermediation) of which he later became Deputy General Manager.
He joined BMCE Bank in 1996, where he was entrusted with the task of creating its Consumer Finance subsidiary, Salafin; he served as CEO at of this branch until 2015. In 2007, the company was listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange, and as of 2015 its market capitalization was USD 170 million. From 2007 to 2016, Mr. Bouabid was a sitting Board Member of BMCE Bank, the second largest commercial bank in Morocco, with a 75 percent holding of the BOA Group. He has spent his career actively contributing to the reform of the Moroccan financial market, and participated in the launch of the first private market index of Casablanca Stock Exchange. With a cumulative professional experience of 24 years, he continues to be a highly respected figure in African development finance.
